Meet David and Angelina
Nuñez Family Story
Theirs was a true love story.
David was the second youngest in a large family from Tijuana, Mexico. His roots traced back to Zacatecas, where his family originally came from.
Angelina grew up in Watsonville, a small agricultural town on California’s central coast. As the eldest of five, she played a vital role in helping her father run his flower-growing business.
One summer evening in 1955, their paths crossed at a lively dance in Tijuana. It was Angelina who gathered the courage to ask a shy David to dance. That single moment sparked a love that would span 65 years of marriage.
They eventually settled in Carlsbad, California, where they raised two daughters, Olga and Sandy. Though neither David nor Angelina had the opportunity to finish high school, they were determined to give their daughters the education they never had.
Through hard work and sacrifice, they achieved that dream. Olga earned her undergraduate degree from UC San Diego and her law degree from UCLA, going on to become an accomplished attorney. Sandy attended UCLA as well and built a successful career as a television executive.
For the Nuñez family, education wasn’t just important—it was the key to a better life. Their legacy lives on not only in their daughters’ achievements, but in the values they passed down: love, perseverance, and the unshakable belief that with enough determination, a better future is always within reach. David and Angelina’s story is a reminder that great love and humble beginnings can lay the foundation for extraordinary lives.
